New Delhi: The Modi government awarded the three Supreme Court judges who delivered the Babri Masjid verdict against Muslims with high government posts and honors after their retirement.
According to Indian media, the Modi government made Ranjan Gogoi, one of the judges who heard the Babri Masjid case, as the chairman of the Foreign Affairs, Information and IT Committee in the Rajya Sabha on retirement.
Similarly, another judge, Abdul Nazeer, was made the Governor of Andhra Pradesh, while Justice Ashok Bhusan was appointed as the head of the National Appellate Tribunal after his retirement.
It may be noted that these three judges were part of the five-judge bench that delivered the controversial Babri Masjid case in November 2019, which had given the decision to demolish the mosque to build a temple and give a place for the mosque elsewhere.
Two more judges will also be appointed to higher government posts. This move of the Modi government proves that it is sticking to its manifesto of not discriminating against minorities.
The Modi government claimed this decision as its victory and the biggest political gain from the Babri Masjid attack in 1992 was also taken by the BJP. He won votes by playing with the sentiments of Hindus and is in power for the second time in a row.
