After returning home from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Norway’s star footballer Erling Haaland once again grabbed everyone’s attention.
According to international media reports, Haaland was spotted arriving at Oslo Airport carrying a taxidermy raccoon—a preserved wild animal—reportedly worth US$750.
Sharing photos of the unusual item on social media, Haaland wrote a brief caption: “It came home with me.”
Reports say the story of the unique raccoon began during the World Cup in Texas, USA.
While staying with the Norwegian national team, Haaland visited a Western-themed store in Dallas, where he purchased a cowboy hat, leather boots, and a shirt.
Inside the same store, he noticed a distinctive taxidermy raccoon holding a bottle of liquor. Impressed by the quirky display, he decided to buy it.
According to media reports, the store owners later shared photos of Haaland’s visit on their website. The publicity sparked a surge in demand for the raccoon, and the featured item was quickly sold online.
The store has since accelerated its international shipping operations to fulfill orders from customers around the world, driven by Haaland’s unexpected influence.
It is worth noting that Norway enjoyed a historic campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, reaching the quarter-finals for the first time in the nation’s history.
The team stunned Brazil in the Round of 16 before their tournament came to an end with a 2-1 defeat to England in the quarter-finals.
Erling Haaland was Norway’s standout performer throughout the tournament, scoring seven goals for his country during the World Cup.
