Approval of interest-free loans of 36 crores to 11 judges of Lahore High Court

Lahore: The Caretaker Government of Punjab approved loans of more than 36 crore rupees to 11 judges of Lahore High Court, these loans will be interest-free and the repayment period is 12 years.

According to Express News, the caretaker Punjab government gave loans to the judges of the High Court equal to their three years of basic salaries, which is an average of Rs 3 crore per judge.

The caretaker cabinet’s standing committee on finance has approved interest-free loans to judges. Agenda Nos. 17, 18 and 19 of the Standing Committee on Finance of the Cabinet contain references to giving money to eleven judges. The basic salary of these judges is more than 9 lakh rupees per month.

These eleven judges of Lahore High Court include those judges who have issued an injunction against the government regarding sugar mills. No such instance of giving interest-free loans to government officials has come to light before.
