6 cannons stolen from Kot Diji fort were returned

Karachi: Sindh Culture and Antiquities Minister Dr. Junaid Ali Shah has said that 6 of the cannons that were moved and stolen from Kot Diji Fort have been returned.

Caretaker Provincial Minister Dr. Syed Junaid Ali Shah visited Kot Diji in Khairpur and inspected various parts of the fort and got details about the fort. He also inspected the two cannons installed in Kot Diji fort.

Dr. Syed Junaid Ali Shah while talking to the media on this occasion said that 6 of the cannons that were moved and stolen from Kot Diji fort have been returned. Out of the 6 cannons returned, 2 cannons have been installed in the fort while the location of 4 cannons has been identified.

Dr Syed Junaid Ali Shah said that all the artefacts of the fort will be returned and the historical beauty of Kot Diji fort will be further restored. The provincial culture minister also announced to waive the entry fee of heritage sites and museums across Sindh for students.

Dr. Syed Junaid Ali Shah said that we need to make our youth aware of our culture and our heritage. The youth of Sindh has to carry forward its thousand years of history. We have a lot of work to do to educate the youth about the importance of heritage sites. An Information and Facilitation Counter will be set up at Kot Diji Fort to facilitate and inform the visiting tourists.

The provincial minister said that the construction of the magnificent museum at Kot Diji Fort has also been completed, which will be inaugurated in the middle of January. Will write to local governments to repair roads as well as install information boards for ease of access to heritage sites.
