342 cases of AIDS were reported in Balochistan during one year. According to Dr. Khalid Qambrani, Manager AIDS Control Program from Quetta, the number of registered AIDS cases in Balochistan has reached 2358.

1937 cases of AIDS have been reported in Quetta, 339 in Turbat, 44 in Hub, 30 in Loralai and 8 in Naseerabad.

According to Dr. Khalid Qambrani, the victims include 1751 men, 472 women, 99 children and 36 eunuchs.

He said that the number of AIDS patients in the province may be 7 thousand. In Balochistan, 6 districts have been declared high risk for AIDS, including Quetta, Turbat, Gwadar, Zhob, Shirani and Nasirabad.

Dr. Khalid Qambrani said that the cases of AIDS are increasing due to taking drugs from used syringes. There are 5 centers in Balochistan providing free medicines and treatment facilities for AIDS patients.

According to him, screening kits and free test facilities are available in all hospitals of Balochistan.
