Lahore: The High Court granted the petitions of the sugar mills, declaring that the province has the power to fix the price of sugar.
The Lahore High Court gave its verdict on the petitions filed against the notification to fix sugar prices, in which the court declared that the provinces have the power to fix the price of sugar.
A 2-member bench of the Lahore High Court, headed by Justice Shahid Karim, gave a safe decision, in which the court accepted the petitions of the sugar mills. It should be noted that the federal government had issued a notification to fix sugar prices.
The court invalidated the Price Control Act of 1977 at the provincial level to the extent of sugar.
