Dubai (PNP) A prestigious dinner and literary session was held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to honor Mr. Ahmed Ashfaq, a renowned Urdu poet based in Qatar and an organizer of international mushairas (poetic symposia). The event was organized by Dr. Rahmina Zafar and noted poet Suleman Jazib.
The program commenced with a scholarly session prior to the dinner, during which Ahmed Ashfaq’s literary contributions, artistic excellence, and poetic journey were discussed in detail. Attendees praised his services in promoting literature on an international level. The session was chaired by eminent writer and poet Zaheer Mushtaq Rana. Speaking on the occasion, Mr.Ijaz Shaheen, Mr. Abid Hussain, and Mr.Zaheer Mushtaq Rana expressed their views on Ahmed Ashfaq’s personality and artistry.
Following this, a poetic symposium (mushaira) was held, featuring Mr. Ahmed Ashfaq as the special guest and Mr. Farhad Jibreel as the guest of honor. The mushaira was also presided over by Zaheer Mushtaq Rana. In addition to the distinguished guests, the host poets—including Ijaz Shaheen, Suleman Jazib, Mueed Mirza, Abrar Umar, Zahid Ali Darwish, Adnan Munawar, Asif Pirzada, and Shahnaz Khanum—recited their poetry and enthralled the audience.
The hosting and compering duties for both segments of the event—the scholarly session and the mushaira—were skillfully performed by renowned poet Suleman Jazib.
The literary occasion was also graced by Mr. Afzal Khan, editor of the literary magazine Kasoti Jadeed, along with a number of other gentlemen and ladies who showed great interest in the proceedings.
During a special segment of the event, an honorary shield was presented to Ahmed Ashfaq by the Pakistan Social Center’s Literary Forum. The shield was bestowed upon him by Dr. Rahmina Zafar and Suleman Jazib as a token of appreciation.
Dr. Rahmina Zafar welcomed the guests and, at the conclusion of the event, extended her special gratitude to all participants, poets, and attendees for making the gathering a success.
