Islamabad: In the meeting of Special Investment Facilitation (Special Investment Facilitation) Council, it has been informed that 16 billion rupees have been recovered from electricity thieves while it has been decided to change the board of directors of all discos. The Caretaker Trade Minister said that thanks to the Council, a free trade agreement has been reached after 14 years from the Gulf Cooperation Council.
The sixth meeting of the Apex Committee of the Special Investment Facilitation Council was held in Islamabad under the chairmanship of caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar, which lasted for 9 hours. In the meeting, the various measures taken to promote investment in the country under SIFC were reviewed. The meeting was attended by the Chief of Army Staff, members of the Interim Federal Cabinet, Chief Ministers of the four provinces and relevant senior officials.
The meeting was given a detailed briefing on the steps taken to promote investment and provide business facilities in the country since the last meeting of the Council. Participants also reviewed the economic factors affecting investment in the country, including the stalled reform process and the privatization process of state-owned enterprises with heavy losses.
In the meeting, it was agreed to speed up the process of privatization of State Owned Companies (SOEs) in order to protect the wider interest of the people and the national exchequer from further loss. The Committee expressed satisfaction over the steps taken to achieve the set targets for investment with local and international investment institutions.
