Ankara: The number of people killed by the earthquake in Turkey and Syria has exceeded 20 thousand.
According to foreign media, more than 17,000 people have died in Turkey and more than 3,000 in Syria. Hopes of getting people out alive buried under the rubble of hundreds of collapsed buildings are fading.
Three days ago, thousands of people affected by the 7.8-magnitude earthquake in Turkey and Syria have been forced to live under the open sky in extreme cold. There is a shortage of food and drink in the earthquake affected areas.
Turkey’s vice president said in a statement that rescue and search operations have been completed in Kilis and Şanlıurfa provinces, while large-scale search and rescue operations have also been completed in Diyarbakır, Adna and Osmania regions. Officials of both countries have expressed fear of an increase in deaths.
