Israel and Sudan ready for peace deal, to be signed in Washington

Israel’s Foreign Minister and Sudanese General Fateh al-Barhan shake hands.

Israel and Sudan have drafted a peace treaty that will be signed in Washington this year.

Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen has returned to Tel Aviv after completing his visit to Sudan.

He said that the visit to Khartoum was with the consent of the United States and the signing ceremony of the agreement will be held in Washington when the power in Sudan will be transferred to the civilian government.

The foreign minister said that Khartoum, the capital of Sudan, is remembered in Israel because it is here that the Arab countries made ‘three historic denials’, that is, ‘there will be no peace with Israel, there will be no negotiations with Israel and Israel will not be recognized’.

He said that we are building a new reality with the Sudanese people in which these three negatives are changing into three yeses.

“Negotiations with Israel will definitely take place, Israel will definitely be recognized and peace will definitely be established between the two countries and their people.”

During the visit, the Israeli Foreign Minister met with the ruling Sovereign Council of Sudan, General Fateh al-Barhan and senior officials and discussed with them the stages of signing the peace agreement between the two states.

While addressing a press conference, he said that the visit to Sudan has laid the foundation for a historic peace agreement with this important strategic Muslim country.

He said that the peace agreement between Sudan and Israel will promote regional security and contribute to Israel’s national security.

He further said that the peace agreement will provide an opportunity to establish relations with other African countries.
