In 2019, an Indian man injured in a bus accident was awarded 5 million dirhams (over 39 crores in Pakistani rupees) as compensation.
According to foreign media reports, in 2019, due to the negligence of the driver, an accident occurred on a bus from Oman to Dubai, as a result of which 17 people out of 31 passengers on the bus lost their lives.
According to reports, 12 of these 17 people were Indian nationals, however, one of the injured was a 20-year-old young engineering student, Muhammad Baig Mirza, who has now been compensated 5 million dirhams.
The report stated that the accident occurred when the bus driver collided with the headbridge at the entrance of the parking lot of the metro station, resulting in the complete destruction of the upper part of the bus.
The bus driver, a native of Oman, was sentenced to 7 years in prison and 3.4 million dirhams in blood fines to the victims’ families. However, the victim’s lawyer approached the court and reduced the amount to 5 million, which has now been paid.
