Doha: Qatar’s Emir Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani has been appointed as the new Prime Minister of the country.
According to the international news organization, the Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani has appointed Foreign Minister Sheikh Muhammad bin Abdulrahman as the prime minister after the resignation of Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al-Thani.
The new Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman, who has been the Foreign Minister since January 2016, will continue to perform the duties of the Foreign Minister. Even after becoming the Deputy Prime Minister in 2017, he was also holding the charge of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The new Prime Minister of the country also has experience in finance and economy. He chaired the Qatar Fund for Development in 2014 and the Qatar Investment Authority in 2018, while also serving as the Director of Economic Affairs at the Council from 2005 to 2009.
In 2009, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman managed to win the trust of the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad, while being the director of the Small and Medium Enterprises Support Project.
