Seoul: The level of health crisis faced at the national level in South Korea has been declared to be the highest, which is due to the doctors’ strike in protest regarding the admission problems in the medical educational institutions.
Around 7,863 doctors (about 70 percent of trainee doctors) have walked out, disrupting patient care and delaying or canceling surgeries, global media reported, citing South Korea’s Ministry of Health.
Most of the trainee doctors work in the country’s 100 hospitals and play an important role as assistant doctors in surgeries and emergencies.
At an emergency disaster response meeting chaired by Prime Minister Han Deok-soo, government officials said they would extend working hours at public hospitals, hire additional temporary medical staff and introduce telemedicine to all hospitals and clinics. Will ask to provide service.
