On the report of a fire in a British Airways flight departing from Washington DC to London, the plane made an emergency landing at a nearby airport, but the plane and all passengers were safe.
According to aviation officials, the Boeing 9-787 Dreamliner aircraft as Flight BA 216 took off from Washington DC to Heathrow London Airport in the United Kingdom at 6:49 PM local time.
1 hour into the flight, the pilot reported smoke filling the aircraft cabin to air traffic control.
After receiving the information, the flight made an emergency landing at the nearby Halifax Airport and all passengers and crew were evacuated from the plane.
Later, the aircraft with registration number G-ZBkL was fully inspected and declared fully fit and the passengers were sent to their destination.
