National team captain Babar Azam has said that Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee has given me confidence, now my focus is away from captaincy.
While giving a press conference at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore, captain Babar Azam said that series to series we try to do better.
He also said that no one comes by writing that he should be the captain.
Captain Babar Azam said that we have to focus on the performance so I ignore such things and that is the best.
Babar Azam also said that I don’t have the tension of captaincy, what is going on, I don’t know about the rumours, I try to ignore it.
He said that there is an effort to get performance from the players, to play well myself.
The captain of the national team said that international cricket is being held in Lahore after a long time, all the players are excited and the fans are also waiting.
He said that everyone has prepared hard, the series is very important before the mega event. All the players are fully fit and in rhythm, will try to play good cricket.
Babar Azam said that our batting and bowling line-up is good. Haris, Shaheen and Naseem form a good combination.
Regarding the rival team, he said that the combination of New Zealand is also good, there are mixed players. No one is taken lightly, people are saying that there is a B team.
Talking about the pitches, the captain of the national team said that the quality of the pitches is getting better. Still the wicket looks good.
He added that there could be 180, 190, 200.
Babar Azam said that there is little time before the Asia Cup, these matches are part of our preparation. Will feed the best XI and go with the best team.
In response to the question regarding the batting order, Babar Azam said that we do not intend to experiment now, only I and Rizwan will open.
He said that the rest will see who will fit in the combination and will feed him. After the practice today, the XI will be announced.
He said that with the arrival of Ehsanullah and Zaman, the bowling has become stronger, we will try to give a chance to the bench strength as well.
