PPP’s Syed Owais Shah and Naveed Anthony are candidates for Deputy Speaker.
Karachi: The new Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Sindh Assembly will be elected today.
The meeting of Sindh Assembly will be held this morning under the chairmanship of Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani. On behalf of PPP, Syed Owais Shah has submitted nomination papers for Speaker and Naveed Anthony is the candidate for Deputy Speaker.
Sofia Saeed Shah and Deputy Speaker Rashid Khan are in the field from MQM. The Speaker and Deputy Speaker will be elected by secret ballot.
PPP is the largest party in Sindh with 114 members and MQM Pakistan is the second largest party with 36 seats. GDA has 3, Jamaat-e-Islami 1 and independent members 9.
