Peshawar: The caretaker cabinet of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has approved a 10 percent increase in the salaries of trainee doctors serving in government hospitals.
In the cabinet meeting held under the chairmanship of Caretaker Chief Minister Azam Khan, proposals were presented for a 30% increase in the salary of the trainee doctors and 25% increase from the health department, but in view of the economic situation, a 10% increase was approved.
Adviser Health Dr Riaz Anwar while announcing the increase said that 269 people have been affected by diphtheria and 17 have died, including a 24-year-old man.
