Unknown persons occupied the new building of the Department of Visual Studies of the University of Karachi

Karachi: Unidentified claimants of land along Bhayani Heights in University of Karachi occupied the new building of Department of Visual Studies.

According to the official sources of the University of Karachi, on Wednesday afternoon, some unknown persons forcibly entered the department’s main gate on Abu-ul-Hasan Isfahani Road and occupied the department’s building.

In this new building named Sardar Yasin Malik School, the Department of Visual Studies and Architecture Department of the University was recently shifted, teaching of students had started and practical classes were also going on.

When unknown persons forcibly entered the building, panic spread among the students and teachers there and the students moved their teaching and practical equipment from there.

Meanwhile, on the request of University of Karachi, officials of the concerned police station and Rangers officials also reached there.

The unidentified persons who occupied said that this land is their property for several acres and they have legal documents for it which they presented as evidence to the State Officer and Security Advisor of University of Karachi present there.

On the other hand, Karachi University also presented the ownership papers of this land, on this occasion, in the presence of police and rangers, discussions between the parties were going on, but the teaching process was suspended.

In addition, University of Karachi Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Khalid Mahmood Iraqi said in this regard that this land is the property of Karachi University.
