Ahmedabad: The waiting hours are over, the ICC World Cup 2023 festival in India will be decorated from today.
The moment fans have been eagerly waiting for is finally here. The opening match of the tournament will be played today at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad between defending champions England and runners-up New Zealand. The match will start at 1:30 PM Pakistan time.
The mega event will see 10 teams fighting for the World Cup trophy from October 5 to November 19. The teams participating in the event will play a total of 45 league matches against each other.
The top four teams will qualify for the semi-finals which will be held in Mumbai on November 15 and Kolkata on November 16, while the final will be held in Ahmedabad on November 19. The semi-finals and finals will have reserve days.
According to ICC, the team that lifts the World Cup trophy will get 4 million dollars while the runner-up team will get 2 million dollars. Likewise, the losing teams in the semi-finals will receive US$800,000, making a total of US$160,000.
The teams that will not reach the knockout stage will get one hundred thousand dollars, while the team that won the group stage matches will get $40,000.
Pakistan will play their first match in the World Cup against Netherlands on October 6.
