Possible risk of spread of dangerous Nipah virus in Pakistan, alert issued

Karachi: The Sindh Health Department has issued an alert about the possible spread of the dangerous Nipah virus in India.

According to Express News, the Sindh Health Department has also issued an advisory to the heads of government hospitals regarding the Nipah virus. In the details, all the staff have been instructed to be alert in view of the possible threat of Nipah virus.

Director General Health Sindh has written a letter to all the hospitals in which the Health Department of Sindh has instructed the MS, Directors, and Livestock Department of hospitals across Sindh to be alert.

According to the advisory, Nipah virus spreads rapidly from animals to humans and from humans to humans. Early symptoms of the virus include fever, headache, body aches and coma, among other symptoms. However, no case has been reported so far across Pakistan including Sindh.
