Islamabad: Chairman PTI’s lawyer has said during the hearing of the case in the court that it is wrong to give authority to the judge of the Anti-Terrorism Court to prosecute cases under the Official Secrets Act.
A hearing was held in the Islamabad High Court on the petition filed against the trial of the cipher case in Attock Jail, in which Chairman PTI filed a petition against the notification of the Ministry of Law to transfer the court.
In front of Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Justice Aamir Farooq, the chairman PTI’s lawyer gave arguments and said that 2 objections have been raised on our application. It is objected that we made more than one request in the same application, on which the Chief Justice remarked that what difference does it make? . I remove the objections, you argue on the merits.
The Chief Justice inquired whether the venue of the court has been changed. , to which lawyer Sher Afzal Marwat replied that the concerned court of Official Secret Act cases is that of the Magistrate. Authorizing cases under the Official Secrets Act to an Anti-Terrorism Court judge is wrong.
The lawyer requested the court to issue a notice and seek a response on this too. The Chief Justice remarked that I issue notices on your request. The lawyer said that this is an urgent matter, so the case should be rescheduled for next week, on which Chief Justice Amir Farooq said that he will hear the case next week itself.
Later, the court adjourned the hearing of the case.
