Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan gave suggestions regarding reduction in electricity rate and savings.
In a statement issued from Peshawar, Senator Mushtaq Ahmed said that the government should stop providing free electricity to the elite and make electricity theft a crime equal to terrorism.
He said that production of electricity from furnace oil and imported coal should be banned in the country.
The Jamaat-e-Islami senator further said that electricity theft is facilitated by WAPDA department, electricity theft should be declared as a crime equal to terrorism and punished openly.
He said that the line losses should be eliminated by upgrading the electricity transmission lines.
Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan also said that solar panels and technical assistance should be provided to the public on easy terms without interest.
He said that solar energy should be included in the building code for every house built in the future.
