Usman Khawaja's century in the first Test stabilized Australia's position

Australian opener Usman Khawaja scored a brilliant century against English bowlers Jawan Mardi and improved the team’s position in the first Test of the Ashes series.

Australia opened their innings with 14 runs for no loss on the second day of the Test in Birmingham and ended the day at 311 for 5, with the hosts still leading the visitors by 82 runs.

Usman Khawaja is unbeaten on 126 while Alex Carey is unbeaten on 52, but Australia need 82 more runs to make up the first innings deficit of the English team.
