Karachi: Jamaat-e-Islami appealed to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court to take notice of the alleged pressure on the PTI chairmen not to vote for Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman by the People’s Party in the election of Mayor Karachi.
Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Hafiz Naeemur Rehman while addressing a press conference at Noor Haq Institute said that the Chief Justice of Pakistan is appealed to the People’s Party and the Sindh government to do unconstitutional, undemocratic and PTI actions in the election of the mayor of Karachi. Take immediate notice against threatening and pressuring the chairmen not to give Jamaat-e-Islami co-vote.
He said that PPP is making PTI people disappear despite the court order, PPP is not ready to accept the decision of the Supreme Court. I will vote for PPP. Despite all the tactics, PPP could not achieve the required number, so now it wants to create confusion by spreading false and fabricated news through the media.
Hafiz Naeem said that we are in touch with PTI chairmen, all PTI chairmen will vote for the nominated mayor and deputy mayor of Jamaat-e-Islami in the mayoral election on June 15.
He said that Asif Ali Zardari, Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari should improve the reputation of their party and accept the mandate of the people in Karachi and do not stop the elected mayor of Jamaat-e-Islami and PTI with a clear majority.
He said that we have filed a petition in the High Court regarding the appointment of an unelected person as mayor. We hope that the court will decide against the Local Act amendment bill.
Hafiz Naeemur Rahman added that we have sent the clear decision of the Supreme Court to the Election Commission of Pakistan through a delegation. His vote will not be counted either.
He said that the People’s Party cannot win in a democratic way, that is why it is not ready to obey any law and regulation. Vote for Jamaat-e-Islami.
If the People’s Party tries to make its mayor through government coercion and force, Jamaat-e-Islami will strongly resist and will take all constitutional, legal and democratic ways. Go and take notice of the false news in the media.
He further said that People’s Party has broadcasted the message of PTI chairmen through some journalists that they will not vote for Jamaat-e-Islami. They will vote for Jamaat-e-Islami.
Hafiz Naeemur Rahman said that PPP could not complete the required number despite all the tactics, so now it is saying that the newly elected chairman of PTI will not be allowed to come on the day of election of mayor.
We wonder what kind of election this is, in which a party is openly defying the court order, picking up people and disappearing and there is no institution to ask them, People’s Party by force on Karachi. It wants to take over and impose its own mayor, because it has completely failed to bring in its own mayor in a democratic and constitutional manner.
He further said that we challenge that People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari should show the desired number in front of the media and then claim to be made the mayor.
He said that Karachi is the economic hub of Pakistan. If Karachi develops, the whole country will develop. The people’s party has elected him as the mayor. He has been an administrator for one year. What did he do for Karachi? 22 billion rupees were spent to repair it, it was washed away in the next rain.
Deputy Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Raja Arif Sultan, Information Secretary Zahid Askari, Deputy Secretary Sahib Ahmed and others were also present on the occasion of the press conference.
