Karachi: The record-breaking inflation has dulled the joys of the sweet Eid, even in the last ten years of Ramadan, there was not as much shopping as in the first ten years, Eid shopping has decreased by 50%.

According to business leader Atiq Mir, the markets are deprived of the traditional hustle and bustle of Eid, the monster of inflation has kept its claws in the markets, there is no traditional rush of people in 18 to 20 central markets in Karachi. They are also spending less because it has become difficult to meet basic needs at this time.

According to Atiq Mir, the effects of Easter and wedding season shopping along with Eid shopping are not being seen in the markets, last year there was a sale of around 25 billion rupees which was a disappointing year in the history of the country, this year it is even more disappointing. As the situation is and facing a 50% drop in sales, the final impact will be determined by the next few days and moon night shopping.

Atiq Mir said that there is no open shopping this year, most of the children’s products are being sold, buyers are going around the whole market to buy a suit, everyone wants cheap items, 80% children’s and women’s clothes, jewellery, Makeup, shoes and purses are on sale.

The business leader said that last year also the traders did not put stock, the containers are stuck at the shops, this year due to lack of raw materials the production in the factories was limited and the shopkeepers refrained from borrowing goods from the factories.
