Islamabad: The Chief Justice of Pakistan has remarked during the hearing of the case that the country’s industries are being destroyed due to additional taxes.
During the hearing of petitions against Sindh Sales Tax 2011 in the Supreme Court, the Chief Justice remarked that the issue of implementation of additional taxes on industries also needs to be looked into. The industries of the country are being destroyed due to additional taxes.
On the request of the Sindh Revenue Board, the case was heard by a 3-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan. Later, the court adjourned the case to the first week of June for further hearing.
It should be noted that the Sindh government had imposed Sindh sales tax on services since 2011, on which private companies have challenged the implementation of Sindh sales tax on services.
