Karachi: The Sindh government has decided to reward those who identify hoarders and profiteers.
The Sindh government has issued an amendment ordinance to control the prices of essential commodities and against hoarding in the province, according to which the revenue officers at the district level have been given special powers of price checking and as a result of the action, selling essential commodities at higher prices. Hoarders and hoarders may be arrested on the spot.
According to the decision, those found hoarding essential commodities and selling them at higher prices will be jailed and will also pay a fine of up to 2 lakh rupees. Also, it has been made mandatory to keep an official list of essential items at business places and centers and if the list is not kept, there will be an immediate fine from 10 thousand to 1 lakh rupees.
Apart from this, the Sindh government has decided to reward those who inform against hoarders and overchargers. Citizens who give correct information will be rewarded with 10% of the fine.
The amendment ordinance has been issued after the signature of the Governor of Sindh.
