Karachi: Caretaker Chief Minister Sindh Justice (retd) Muqoob Baqir has approved Rs 16.8 billion in development schemes for Karachi and has directed the finance department to complete the necessary paperwork and release the money.

The Chief Minister said that I want to start some important schemes like 65 MGD additional supply scheme, TP-1 and TP-3, 10 MGD water supply scheme and others like that to work on water supply and treatment plants. can be started.

The Chief Minister was informed that Karachi has a sanctioned water quota of 1200 cusecs (650 mgd from the Indus River) which is supplied through the Water Board System, the existing bulk water supply system of canals for transporting water in Karachi. Consisting of pipelines, pumping stations and filter plants, the project aims to utilize the 65 MGD capacity available from Kenjhar Guju Canal.

Mayor Karachi told the Chief Minister that there is no obstacle in the right of way (RoW) available with the project.

The Chief Minister was informed that the project is being started through PPP mode but it is taking time, on this the Chief Minister directed the P&D Department to approve the scheme within 10 days and the Finance Department to release 4.5 billion. Directed to release Rs. so that the work on the project can be started.

The Chief Minister was informed that the site industrial area is one of the largest areas, its water requirement is 50 mgd of which 1.63 mgd is being supplied to them.

He directed the Water Board to improve its system by replacing its old lines and rehabilitate the Nazimabad pumping station.

The Chief Minister directed the Water Board to lay a 29 km long pipeline of 24 inch diameter from Damloti to DHA to supply 10 MGD of water to DHA. The Chief Minister sanctioned Rs 2.1 billion for laying the 24-inch diameter line and directed the Water Board to complete the formalities and start the work.

The Chief Minister of Sindh was told that due to the high inflation of 2014, the capacity expansion of the sewage treatment plants is impractical. The Chief Minister sanctioned Rs 5 billion to start the work and directed the Water Board to get ready to start the project.
