In the central Philippines, unidentified gunmen shot dead a provincial governor and 5 others.
According to Al Jazeera report, police said six suspects armed with rifles and dressed in official uniforms entered the governor’s house in the town of Pamplona and opened fire.
His widow said the governor of Negros Oriental province, Ruel Degamo, and 5 others were killed in the shooting. Pamplona Mayor Janice Degamo said Governor Degamo did not deserve this kind of death, he was serving his constituents on Saturday.
Police, on the other hand, said it was too early to comment on the number of hospitalized victims, adding that the Philippines has a long history of attacks on politicians, with 56-year-old Degamo being the latest.
