Peshawar; 2 suspects including customs inspector involved in dollar smuggling arrested

Peshawar: 2 suspects including the customs inspector involved in dollar smuggling were arrested.

Under the direction of Deputy Director Anti-Corruption Circle Peshawar Saadullah, the raiding team arrested an organized gang involved in dollar smuggling. The arrest of 2 suspects, including the Customs Inspector, has been carried out on the information of the intelligence agencies.

According to the spokesperson of FIA, the accused were arrested from the foreign currency declaration point located at the Torkham border. Customs Inspector Wajid and Asfandyar are among the accused. The accused Customs Inspector Wajid Toor was posted at the Kham border while the accused Isfandiar was involved in the illegal clearing of dollars with the connivance of the Customs officials.

During the search, one hundred and twenty-three thousand US dollars were recovered from the accused Isfandyar. During the investigation, the accused revealed the smuggling of millions of dollars on a daily basis. The arrested accused Isfandiar was in contact with several agents. The accused used to receive dollars from the agents at the customs offices located at the Torkham border. The accused used to receive a commission of 50 thousand rupees for the smuggling of 100,000 dollars.

According to FIA, the money received in the name of commission was handed over to the customs authorities. The accused have been arrested and investigation has been started and raids are being conducted to arrest other accused.
