Karachi: A matriculation student who came under fire during the alleged police encounter in Lyari area was killed.
During the alleged police encounter near Ghas Mandi, the matriculation student, who was injured in two-way firing, died while undergoing treatment. Eidgah police killed 3 dacoits in the encounter.
The deceased student was identified as 16-year-old Muhammad Umair son of Muhammad Afzal. The deceased was a resident of the second floor and a matriculation student in Dubai Building, in front of Jamila Pumping, Kalakot police station limits, located some distance from the place of occurrence. Muhammad Umeer was the youngest of 2 brothers and 4 sisters.
According to the residents of the area, the deceased and his elder brother did not leave the house much. At the time of the incident, the deceased had gone to buy breakfast at a milk shop in Jinnahabad near his house, when the Eidgah police arrived in pursuit of 3 robbers, where another shooting was going on in a cinematic style.
In street number 7, the accused stopped and started firing from the police. Meanwhile, 2 passers-by Umeer and 23-year-old Murtaza son of Riyaz were injured in the firing. The police killed the three robbers in retaliatory firing. The bodies of the robbers and the injured citizens were shifted to the civil hospital. Umir was shot in the head and Murtaza’s left leg. Umir died during the treatment of his injuries.
The police handed over the dead body to the heirs after taking legal action. When the body of the student Umeer reached home, there was chaos. The incident was not reported to his mother until the dead body reached home, but as soon as the dead body reached home, the mother collapsed with grief, while her sisters, brother and father were also crying profusely. Local residents were also saddened by the death of the young man.
