World famous Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo was enthusiastically welcomed by Iranian football fans in Tehran.
When Cristiano Ronaldo arrived in Iran with his team, a large number of fans dressed in the jerseys of Saudi club Al-Nasr gathered at the Imam Khomeini International Airport to welcome him.
As soon as their favorite footballer left the airport in a bus with their team, everyone started calling their name loudly.
Tehran Municipality also decorated the city with banners displaying messages in Farsi, English and Arabic to welcome Cristiano Ronaldo and his teammates.
It should be noted that after the restoration of diplomatic relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia, the team of Saudi club Nasr has arrived in Iran to play a match with the team of famous Iranian club Persepolis in the Asian Champions League.
This will be the first match between Tehran and Riyadh after the restoration of diplomatic relations.
Earlier, since 2016 due to the breakdown of diplomatic relations, the teams of both the countries have played matches only on neutral grounds.
It is worth mentioning here that the Iranian football fans who thronged the airport to catch a glimpse of Cristiano Ronaldo will not be able to see him in action.
This is because as per the decision of the Asian Football Confederation, it will be an indoor match between Al Nasr and Persepolis as a punishment because of a social media post by the Persepolis team in 2020 which was criticized by the Indian club. He was inappropriately aggressive.
