Asian Cricket Council President Jay Shah’s statement on the issue of Asia Cup 2023 being held in Sri Lanka instead of Dubai came out.
Jay Shah says that all the full members, media rights holders and those stadium rights holders were reluctant to play the entire tournament in Pakistan.
As the ACC president, I had to come up with a suitable solution, says Jai Shah, acknowledging the hybrid model of the PCB being developed in association with the ACC.
The ACC president says that it is important that there have been several changes in the Pakistan Cricket Board and discussions have also taken place up and down.
He said in this regard that the Asia Cup to be played in UAE in 2022 was of T20 format which cannot be compared with the ODI format of 100 overs.
Jay Shah says that the teams had expressed reservations about playing one-day matches in the UAE in the month of September. Time when the World Cup is going to start.
He further said that the schedule of the Asia Cup was made keeping in mind the health and safety of the players, with the sole aim of making the tournament a success.
Jay Shah says that the health of the players of the teams has been taken care of before the World Cup so that they are fully prepared.
It should be remembered that the Asia Cup matches in Sri Lanka are being affected by rain, on which cricket fans have expressed disappointment.
