In the SAFF Under-16 Football Championship, Pakistan got off to a great start by defeating the hosts Bhutan.
Pakistan U-16 team played a great game at Chinglimithan Stadium in Thimphu. Although Bhutan U-16 took the lead in the match, Pakistan not only equalized the match before half-time but also took the lead which was maintained till the final whistle.
Tandan Phantshu scored a goal in the 13th minute to give Bhutan the lead, but four minutes later, Pakistan captain Obaidullah Khan headed the ball into the net to tie the game at one.
In the thirtieth minute of the game, Subhan Karim scored Pakistan’s second goal to give the green shirts a 1-2 lead.
Neither team could score in the second half and thus Pakistan U-16 won their first match 1-2 to start the tournament victoriously.
Pakistan team will play their next match in the event against Maldives on September 4.
