Karachi: Due to the criminal negligence of the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP), insulin for diabetes patients in Karachi disappeared from the market, while other life-saving drugs, including blood pressure control drugs, were sold at arbitrary prices through the black market. are being sold.

According to the Wholesale and Chemist Association, blood pressure control drugs are going out of stock, the prices of drugs have increased by 50 to 70 percent during the last 6 months, while the Drape authorities are not serious about addressing this problem. There are serious threats to human lives.

On the other hand, with the shortage of drugs used in epilepsy and other diseases including anti-depressants being sold at exorbitant prices in the market, the shortage of drugs and black marketed drugs have become beyond the reach of poor patients.

On the other hand, people are suffering from severe mental stress due to the current situation. The patients said that the treatment was not possible due to the high cost of the medicines, all the medicines used in heart diseases were out of reach of the patients.

A doctor told Express News that in some diseases, it is necessary to give sleeping medicine to the patients, but due to the high cost of these medicines, serious problems are being seen in the patients. On the other hand, manufacturers say that the dollar has reached its highest level and the raw materials used in medicines are imported from abroad, so the prices of medicines are increasing.

Apart from this, treatment facilities have been gradually limited in the government hospitals of Sindh, diagnosis of various diseases and X-ray, CT scan and MRI facilities in the laboratories of government hospitals have also been limited.

Health facilities in district government hospitals located in 6 districts of Karachi were restricted to OPD only. Currently, there are 14 major hospitals in Karachi, all these hospitals claim to have facilities for the treatment of various types of complex diseases, but these facilities are less for poor patients and more for government officers.
