The fourth Test between England and Australia ends without a win

The fourth Test of the Ashes series between England and Australia ended without a win, as no ball could be bowled on the fifth day of the match due to rain.

The weather in Manchester played havoc with England’s Ashes comeback bid, with rain preventing a ball from being played on the final day at Old Trafford and England missing out on a potential victory. The Ashes will remain the property of Australia this year as well.

In the fourth Test, the Australian team was dismissed for 317 runs in the first innings, while in reply, the England team was dismissed for 592 runs in the first innings.

The Australian team, who suffered a huge deficit of 275 runs in the second innings, scored 214 runs for the loss of 5 players by the end of the fourth day’s play.

Losing the series 1-2, England had to take 5 wickets of Australia on the last day of play, while the Australian team was 61 runs behind England’s score with an innings left of the English team.

But the weather did not allow this, the rain on the last day of the match did not even give a chance to play a single ball, at one point it seemed that the match would start but it started raining again and finally after waiting until the evening, the umpires announced the end of the match.

After the fourth Test was drawn, now England’s dream of winning the ongoing Ashes series was left unfulfilled. Now even if the series is drawn, the Ashes will remain in Australia because according to the rules, in case of a draw, the team that won the previous series retains the Ashes.
