Islamabad: The High Court suspended Fawad Chaudhry’s non-bailable arrest warrant and ordered him to appear before the Election Commission.
A hearing on the application of Fawad Chaudhry against the issuance of a non-bailable arrest warrant by the Election Commission was held in the Islamabad High Court, in which Advocate Faisal Chaudhry appeared before Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri.
Fawad Chaudhry’s lawyer, Advocate Faisal Chaudhry, while arguing in the court, said that the contempt proceedings against Fawad Chaudhry are ongoing in the Election Commission. .
Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri remarked that the Chief Justice in his judgment has restrained the commission from issuing a final verdict on the matter. Whatever it is, that is also the court, notices have been issued to you. The court inquired that what is the reason why you are not appearing there in personal capacity? You have also violated the High Court order.
Lawyer Faisal Chaudhry said that we appeared before the Islamabad High Court on the same day, on which Justice Tariq Jahangiri said that which Election Commission is in Karachi, we would have gone there from the High Court. You have violated the High Court order, not appearing before the Commission. The lawyer replied that we are ready to appear before the Election Commission.
Later, the Islamabad High Court suspended Fawad Chaudhry’s non-bailable arrest warrant and ordered Fawad Chaudhry to appear before the Election Commission on July 20. Justice Tariq Jahangiri remarked that your arrest warrant is suspended, appear before the commission. If they do not appear before the commission, I will start contempt of court proceedings.
It should be noted that the Election Commission had issued a non-bailable arrest warrant of Fawad Chaudhry for non-attendance.
