Order to submit report on wheat delivery and shortage of flour

Karachi: The Sindh High Court has ordered the Food Department to submit a detailed report on the upcoming hearing on the request of the Flour Mills Association regarding wheat supply and flour shortage in Karachi.

A two-member bench headed by Chief Justice Sindh High Court, Justice Ahmed Ali Sheikh, heard the request of Flour Mills Association regarding the shortage of wheat and flour in Karachi, officials of the Food Department and other parties appeared in the court.

The petitioner’s counsel argued that the Sindh government and administration failed to supply wheat despite the promise to the Flour Mills Association, flour mills in Karachi are facing strict restrictions from the Sindh government.

The court remarked that the report submitted by the food department was not satisfactory.

Speaking informally in Sindh High Court, Secretary Food said that we have released wheat quota to flour mills. Each flour mill has been allowed to store 4,000 bags of wheat.
