Ankara: As none of the candidates received more than 50 percent of the votes in the first phase, polls are being held in the second phase of the presidential election in Turkey, and it happened for the first time in 100 years that the presidential election entered the second phase.

According to the international news agency, in the second phase of the presidential election in Turkey, there is a close contest between President Tayyip Erdogan and opposition leader Kemal Kilic Daroglu. The voting started at 8 am and will continue until 5 pm.

It should be remembered that despite the 90% voter turnout in the May 14 presidential election, no candidate could get 50% of the votes.

President Tayyip Erdogan had a 5-point lead over his rival, but was less than one percent short of 50 percent of the vote.

President Erdogan’s opponent, Kemal Kilicdaroglu, won 44.89 percent of the votes.

Sinan Oghnan, who won 5% of the votes in the first phase of the presidential election, has announced his support for President Erdogan in the second phase, so there are very bright chances of President Erdogan’s victory in the second phase.
