Europol has cracked down on Italy’s most powerful crime syndicate.
Europol said more than 100 people belonging to the group had been arrested in the crackdown, according to the news agency from Rome.
Europol added that those arrested are suspected of involvement in drug and arms trafficking. The group’s network used to smuggle drugs from South America to Europe and Australia.
According to Europol, the Italian group was also involved in the supply of arms from Pakistan to South America. These weapons were given to a Brazilian criminal group in exchange for cocaine.
According to the news agency, the Italian criminal group Deringita is one of the largest criminal networks in the world.
