Prince William and Newspaper Group reached a secret settlement in 2020 over the phone-hacking scandal.
According to the court document, the newspaper group paid Prince William a “huge sum of money,” British media reports said.
News of the settlement came at a hearing in a lawsuit involving Prince Harry and actor Hugh Grant.
Prince Harry is suing The Sun newspaper and the now-defunct News of the World newspaper, Prince Harry is suing for unlawful collection of information.
The newspaper group has sought dismissal of the late filing of the lawsuits.
According to Prince Harry’s lawyer David Sherborne, the previous agreement included the late Queen’s ‘will and permission’.
The lawyer added that it was not possible to file a new case against the group until the end of the royal family’s case.
