Sale of Islamia College Equipment in Old Complex; Students and staff were forced to sit on the ground

Karachi: The transfer of Islamia College was a failure, Arts and Commerce College had no furniture for students and staff while Science College’s 15 laboratories were shifted to 4 labs in the new building but the library and museum remained in the old building.

The project of transfer of Government Islamia College (Science/Commerce and Arts) Morning/Evening, a well-known public educational institution of Karachi, has failed. Due to the negligence of the College Education Department, these two colleges are on the verge of collapse.

The Islamia College Complex, which has been established for years near Mazar-e-Quaid, has been sealed, while due to departmental negligence, all the furniture, office records, library and 70% of the Islamia Science College have been confiscated. Vasaman remains the same, after which there is nothing to keep in the new buildings of the two colleges, leaving the future of thousands of students at stake.

The new building of the Government Islamia Arts and Commerce College shifted to North Karachi is lying empty and the staff is forced to sit on the ground while only 30% of the equipment of the Islamia Science College has been shifted to the new building and the rest of the equipment belongs to the Islamia College complex. Sealed in the old building itself.

On the other hand, the area of the new building given to Islamia Science College in a remote area of North Karachi is less than 70% compared to the previous building, due to which it is impossible to run the science college in this new building.

According to the report, the laboratories of some scientific subjects have been closed and some laboratories have been shifted to a single lab.

In this regard, the teaching and non-teaching staff of Government Islamia Arts and Commerce College told “Express” that at first, the college education department transferred us to the college by giving verbal orders instead of a written order, while the expenses incurred on the transfer were also covered. He did not give it to the college and said that the college administration should bear these expenses.

The discussion was still going on and meanwhile the Islamia College complex was sealed and most of our office equipment, office computers and furniture for teaching and non-teaching use were left there, including the enrollment forms of the students which were sent to the inter-board portal. to be sent through while the record of old students is also included in the same.

The staff further said that now when we go to the new college building, we sit on the ground because there is no office equipment, there is nothing to do and if the students come to take classes, there is nothing to seat them.

It should be noted that the Arts and Commerce College is about 15 km from the sealed Islamia College Complex, while the Science College is 20 km away in the North Karachi area. Due to this, classrooms, offices, library and all rooms and offices reserved for teaching and non-teaching use are lying vacant.

According to the Express News correspondent, there is no furniture for the staff to sit and no decks for the students due to which the college is practically closed now.

In this regard, “Express” tried to contact the principal of this college, Prof. Rafiq Lakhu, but he continued to avoid contact and did not even respond to the sent question, while the director general of colleges, Prof. Muhammad Ali Manjhi, when asked about this matter. When contacted, he said, “Islamia Arts and Commerce are 2 colleges in the morning and evening, earlier they were held in the same building at different times, it should be the same now, Rafiq Lakho has explained that where the morning college They have moved but they are insisting that they have to move to a separate building due to which this problem has arisen.

Regarding Islamia Science, he said that the new building is not so small, it will be managed, the equipment is definitely left in the old building, but we are trying to find it.

On the other hand, the situation in Islamia Government Science College is more dire, there were 15 laboratories in the old college, now there are 4 in which efforts have been made to forcibly transfer the laboratories of Zoology, Botany, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Computer Science and Physics. However, the management is facing worst difficulties here in shifting 15 labs to 4 labs.

The science college had 20 classrooms in the Islamia College complex while the new building has 8 classrooms.

On the other hand, the zoology museum of this college has remained in the Islamia College complex. The college had 20 thousand books in the library, 2 thousand have been transferred, the remaining 18 thousand have been sealed in the complex and thus the library has also been partially transferred. .

On this situation, “Express” contacted the principal of Islamia Science College, Prof. Nadeem Haider, and he said that we have moved 30 trucks of essential equipment to the new building, but now there were no more funds and there was no room in the new college. Kim Hai Our teachers have moved the equipment on their vehicles to the new building.

On the other hand, the sources say that funds were not given for the relocation of the science college, due to which the college administration borrowed money from the vendor and moved some equipment and the vendor did not give more than a certain amount, due to which the college needed more equipment. Left over from transfer.

It is also known that only 4 classrooms have been prepared for the students in the science college, but due to the long distance, the attendance of the students is very low and the majority of the students are not coming to the college.
