More than 20 children became victims of food poisoning after eating khichdi in a feast on the occasion of Navratri in the city of Baghpat in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.
According to Indian media reports, more than 20 children, including a few men, fell ill after eating khichdi in a Navratri feast at a temple in Baghpat’s Nanana village.
After which all the patients were admitted to Baghpat District Hospital where their treatment is ongoing.
According to reports, several children fainted soon after eating khichdi and panic spread among the families of the children.
Several teams of police force and health department have been sent to the spot to investigate the matter.
The report further states that at present the condition of all the patients is better than before.
District Hospital Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS) SK Chaudhary says that he has received information that two dozen poor people have fallen ill due to food poisoning after eating khichdi from a temple.
He said that the condition of two to three children is critical and they are unconscious while the condition of others is normal.
