Riyadh: In Saudi Arabia, social media has been banned from broadcasting prayers and Friday sermons.

Abdullah Al-Anzi, spokesman for the Ministry of Islamic Affairs of Saudi Arabia, said in a conversation with Arab Channel that during the month of Ramadan, external loudspeakers will be used only for adhan and iqamah.

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has also banned the broadcast of prayers and Friday sermons on social media, saying that social media has its own importance, but the content broadcasted on it cannot be controlled. Sometimes the content posted on social media harms the Da’wah of Islam.

The spokesman said that rumors are being spread about the use of external loudspeakers during the month of Ramadan. External loudspeakers of mosques are permitted by the government to be used only for adhan and iqamah.
