Mumbai (PNP): Indian singer Mika Singh has questioned why many people in India view Pakistani Muslims negatively while Muslims in Dubai are generally welcomed, while sharing his views on Pakistan-India relations and his 2019 visit to Pakistan.
Speaking on a podcast, the 50-year-old singer recalled his visit to Pakistan and said that neither Pakistan nor its people are bad.
Mika Singh said that during his visit, Muslims served at Sikh holy sites and helped with cleaning and other arrangements.
“When I went to Pakistan, many Muslims, who are our brothers, were serving at gurdwaras and helping with cleaning,” he said.
Expressing his views about Pakistan, Mika Singh questioned why Pakistani Muslims are disliked in India while Muslims in Dubai are accepted. He said he had never understood this distinction and maintained that Pakistan and its people should not be viewed negatively.
Asked about Indian singer Diljit Dosanjh and his work with Pakistani artists, Mika Singh said he had no objection to Pakistani singers performing in India.
He said Bollywood welcomes Pakistani singers and added that Indian artists performing in Pakistan should not necessarily face criticism either.
Mika Singh also recalled receiving an invitation to perform in Pakistan, saying that the opportunity felt to him like getting a chance to visit a gurdwara and was more important than money.
