Imran Khan challenged the ban on broadcasting speeches and statements

Lahore: PEMRA’s move to ban former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s speech and statements was challenged in the Lahore High Court.

On behalf of Imran Khan, President Lahore High Court Bar Ishtiaq A Khan and Barrister Ahmed Pansuta filed the petition, in which Pemra and others have been made parties.

In the petition, the stand was taken that PEMRA has imposed a complete ban on the broadcasting of Imran Khan’s statements and speeches, but banning the statements and speeches is a violation of fundamental constitutional rights. The petitioner has no option other than the court.

It was requested that the court immediately annul the ban imposed by Pemra.

It should be noted that PEMRA banned the broadcasting of statements and speeches of Chairman PTI Imran Khan yesterday. This ban was imposed under Section 27 of the PEMRA Ordinance.

According to Pemra, Imran Khan is making baseless accusations against state institutions in his speeches and statements.

Imran Khan is spreading hate through inflammatory statements, Imran Khan’s statements are a threat to peace, his recorded or live speeches and statements will be banned.
