Pakistan International Flight PK 798 departed for Lahore with a delay of more than 36 hours due to snow storm in Toronto, Canada.
Flight PK 798 was scheduled to reach Lahore from Toronto at 9:30 PM on Saturday night due to heavy snowfall around Toronto and was unusually delayed and departed for Lahore at 11:24 PM local time.
The flight is likely to reach Lahore at 10:52 AM on Monday. The plane was waiting for departure at the airport for 6 hours with passengers.
According to the sources, the passengers were taken off the plane on the instructions of the Air Traffic Control to close the airfield. The airline faced huge expenses in terms of expensive catering services, aircraft parking charges and hotel accommodation for passengers.
According to sources, the flight had to be canceled due to the forecast of a snow storm around Toronto, but it was not done.
The spokesman says that the plane remained at the airport for the flight due to no advance notice of the snow storm and the crew was not asked to be on duty for more than the prescribed duty time under the rules.
