Karachi: Pakistan Navy, Pakistan Maritime Security Agency and Anti-Narcotics Force seized 200 kg of ice worth Rs 3 billion during a joint anti-narcotics operation at sea, while 6 suspects were arrested.
PMSA Headquarters Karachi Deputy Director General Maritime Security Agency Commodore Amir Raqbal Khan said in a press conference along with ANF Joint Director Lt. Col. Anwar Hussain that Pakistan Navy and ANF together with the North Arabian Sea based on intelligence information. A joint anti-narcotics operation was conducted in which 200 kg of ice was seized.
The value of seized drugs is about 3 billion rupees. 6 smugglers were arrested in the operation. Who belong to Pakistan. Their target was African countries where the drugs were to be shipped.
He said that drugs worth 50 billion rupees were seized during three maritime operations this year. Most cases of drug trafficking are reported during September to March. During these months the sea is slightly moderate. Traffickers transport drugs through small launches. During the recent operation, the smugglers took the drugs to the sea to destroy the evidence. Smugglers also often set the launches on fire.
He said that the successful joint anti-narcotics operation of Pakistan Navy, PMSA and ANF is a reaffirmation of Pakistan’s determination to prevent illegal activities within its maritime boundaries. This operation is a practical demonstration of the coordinated efforts of law enforcement agencies to ensure the security of maritime corridors. The smugglers and seized goods were handed over to the ANF for further legal action.
