Lahore: The Punjab government has decided to light lamps in the Badshahi Masjid on the occasion of Nowruz, the Persian New Year, as a gesture of goodwill to Iran.
According to Express, Consul General of Iran Mehran Mowahid Far met with Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif in which they discussed the promotion of bilateral relations and increasing mutual cooperation.
The need to increase mutual exports was emphasized in the meeting. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Iranian Consul General agreed on the exchange of cultural delegations and decided on immediate steps for the same.
In the meeting, it was decided that as a goodwill gesture, a lamp will be lit in the Badshahi Mosque on March 20 on the occasion of Nowruz, and the youth culture exchange program between the two countries will be promoted.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that she wants to increase mutual agricultural trade with Iran, Pakistan and Iran are culturally and religiously connected.
Iranian Consul General Mehran Mowahid Far expressed his best wishes for Punjab government and people.
