Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Patron, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar has officially nominated Mohsin Naqvi to the Board of Governors (BOGs) of PCB.
Mohsin Naqvi has been nominated as Patrons representative in BOG in place of Zaka Ashraf, while after Zaka Ashraf’s resignation, the reins of PCB have come to the hands of Election Commissioner Shah Khawar under the PCB constitution.
Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Fawad Hasan Fawad confirmed in a conversation with Geo News that Mohsin Naqvi has been nominated as the Patterns representative in Pakistan Cricket Board’s BOGs, the notification of which has also been issued. , he informed that Mohsin Naqvi has been nominated in BOG in place of Zaka Ashraf.
Fawad Hasan Fawad said that caretaker prime minister has also accepted the resignation of Zaka Ashraf, after the acceptance of the resignation, Election Commissioner Shah Khawar has become PCB chairman under the PCB constitution.
He said that he had a meeting with Shah Khawar in which he was told to complete the BOGs of the Pakistan Cricket Board soon and complete the election process.
According to Section 2 of Article 7 of the PCB Constitution, as soon as the post of Chairman becomes vacant, all the powers are transferred to the Chief Election Commissioner and constitutionally within four weeks he will be bound to complete the process of election of the Board. The newly elected chairman can take charge of his post within a week.
In the current situation, the way for Mohsin Naqvi to become the Chairman of PCB has been paved because as a result of the February 8 elections, Mohsin Naqvi will have retired from the duties of caretaker Chief Minister Punjab by the date of PCB election and assuming charge.
